Developing a Model to Select Indicator Species Based on Individual Species’ Contributions to Biodiversity

چکیده
In both ecological research and engineering, the selection of indicator species is crucial. Biodiversity has always been an important policy objective for ecologists environmental managers. Based on this target requirement, we developed a method that reveals individual contributions to biodiversity quantitatively identify during monitoring. The Siangshan Wetland in Hsinchu, Taiwan, was selected as application case. spread mangroves not only changed original habitat composition function benthic organisms wetlands, but also led problems such estuary filling, flooding, black mosquito breeding. Therefore, large-scale mangrove removal project undertaken by Hsinchu City Government from October 2015 March 2016. study, biological effects adjacent habitats were investigated September According contribution algorithms, identified five species, namely, Mictyris brevidactylus, Macrophthalmus banzai, Uca arcuata, U. lacteal, borealis. These had most prominent contribution, they provided direct evidence beneficial effect wetland restoration. After deforestation, tidal flat returned their habitats, related densities increased significantly areas. Improving our understanding relationships between crucial development coastal management processes. Mangrove can be confirmed appropriate rehabilitation strategy organisms. Consequently, these results obtained provide valuable information those involved or other officials seeking control mangroves.

Can a Single Amphibian Species Be a Good Biodiversity Indicator?
Although amphibians have been widely promoted as indicators of biodiversity and environmental change, rigorous tests are lacking. Here key indicator criteria are distilled from published papers, and a species that has been promoted as a bioindicator, the great crested newt, is tested against them. Although a link was established between the presence of great crested newts and aquatic plant dive...
متن کاملA Successful Predictive Model of Species Richness Based on Indicator Species
Because complete species inventories are expensive and time-consuming, scientists and land managers seek techniques to alleviate logistic constraints on measuring species richness, especially over large spatial scales. We developed a method to identify indicators of species richness that is applicable to any taxonomic group or ecosystem. In an initial case study, we found that a model based on ...
متن کاملA Multi-layer Architecture Based on MCDM Methods to Select the Best E-Readiness Assessment Model According to SWOT Analysis
E-readiness is one of the major prerequisites for effective implementation of e-government. For the correct implementation of e-government, it is needed to accurately assess the state of e-readiness in desired community. In this regard, there are models to assess, but the correct choice of model is one of the most important challenges in this area. The process of evaluating and selecting the ap...
متن کاملmortality forecasting based on lee-carter model
over the past decades a number of approaches have been applied for forecasting mortality. in 1992, a new method for long-run forecast of the level and age pattern of mortality was published by lee and carter. this method was welcomed by many authors so it was extended through a wider class of generalized, parametric and nonlinear model. this model represents one of the most influential recent d...
